Welcome to Shebanoning Lodge
This guide gathers the practical information you need for a smooth week on Georgian Bay—property rules, safety reminders, and tips for navigating Killarney Provincial Park and the surrounding area. Please review it before arrival and keep it handy during your stay.
Whether you're launching kayaks, hiking The Crack, or simply relaxing with a book on the deck, respecting the land and our shared spaces keeps the lodge peaceful for every guest.

Driving Directions Snapshot
From Toronto: take Highway 400 north to Highway 69, then turn west onto Highway 637 at the Killarney exit. Plan about 5 hours of drive time and fuel up in Parry Sound (last major services before the final stretch). Once you reach Highway 637, cell service drops. Download maps ahead of time.
After 40 km on Highway 637, watch for the Shebanoning Lodge sign on your right. A gravel drive leads to the cabins and main lodge; drive slowly to avoid wildlife and hikers using the same lane.
Killarney Highlights Nearby
- The Crack Trail: iconic quartzite ridge hike. Arrive early for parking.
- East Lighthouse & Boardwalk: evening stroll with sunset views over Georgian Bay.
- Town of Killarney: restaurants, ferry dock, Herbert Fisheries, and charter departures.
- Baie Fine & Frazer Bay: day trips by canoe or boat for secluded swimming spots.
We hope you enjoy hiking through the wooded trails and meadow around the property. The beach area below the access road is a good place for swimming or for launching canoes.
Please Note:
The main lodge is booked separately, and its boathouse and dock are reserved for lodge guests. Cabin guests have their own shoreline access and shared beach area.
Please maintain the natural beauty of the area and do not alter the property or the land. Do not draw on the granite outcroppings or construct new campsites.
We're committed to preserving this beautiful environment for future generations.
Fire Safety:
- • Campfires only in the existing fire circles by your cabin
- • Check for fire bans before lighting; they're common in dry summers
- • Keep flames under control at all times
- • Drown fires with water before leaving—not dirt, water
Emergency Equipment: There is an emergency water barrel with a hand bucket located adjacent to the cabin.
Drinking Water:
Tap water is drawn from the bay and triple-filtered. Most guests drink it without issue, though you're welcome to boil it or bring your own if you prefer.
Conserving Water: Conserving water helps maintain the septic system. Please be mindful of water usage during your stay.
Safety First:
- • Use canoes with safety in mind
- • Watch the weather carefully
- • Winds can be strong on the bay and conditions can change quickly
Life jackets and paddles are provided with each rental. Please ensure all guests wear life jackets while on the water.
- • Garbage should be bundled securely in garbage bags and taken to the dump
- • The dump is located on the left side of the highway on your way into town
- • Label bags with the tickets provided
- • Do not keep garbage outside (to avoid attracting wildlife)
- • Please pack it out when you leave
Please do not take wooden chairs outside. Outdoor furniture is provided for patio and deck use.
Finding Your Cabin:
After entering the property from Highway 637, proceed slowly along the dirt road. You'll reach a split in the road marked by signs on a tree:
- • Ginger's & Rusty's Cabins: Turn right (before the rise)
- • Main Lodge: Continue straight up the rise
Key Location: You will find a key for the cabin inside on a nail beside the door. You may lock the cabin as you wish during your stay, but please lock the door when you leave and return the key to the nail.
Check-out: 11:00 AM
Please plan for an 11 AM departure. We need the afternoon to prepare all three properties for incoming guests arriving at 3 PM.
Run through this before you leave. It helps us turn the place around and makes sure you don't leave anything behind:
- ☐ Wash all dishes and pots and put back into cupboards
- ☐ Clean tables and countertops
- ☐ Wash toilets, sinks and shower
- ☐ Clean fridge, stove, oven and barbeque
- ☐ Vacuum and mop floors
- ☐ Make beds
- ☐ Take garbage to the dump
