Facilities and Local Area around Shebanoning Lodge

The Area

What's around here and what you need to know before you come.

The Property

We're on the Pine Island Channel of Georgian Bay—open water in front, islands across the channel. The shoreline is pink LaCloche granite, smoothed by glaciers, warm in the afternoon sun. Good for sitting, swimming, watching sunsets.

The water is clear and shallow near shore—great for wading, though paddlers should watch for shoals in the channel. The views from Killarney Ridge include Georgian Bay, Manitoulin Island, and on clear days, the Bruce Peninsula.

What to Expect Each Season

  • Late Spring: Waterfalls running strong, trilliums dotting the forests, cooler evenings perfect for campfires.
  • Summer: Warm water for daily swims, long daylight hours for paddling Pine Island Channel or exploring Baie Fine.
  • Early Fall: Fiery maples across the ridges, crisp nights, and quieter hiking trails throughout Killarney Provincial Park.

  • Morning paddles to watch mist lift from Georgian Bay.
  • Sunset picnics on the beach with views of the quartzite ridge.
