What You'll Actually Do

Paddle

The canoe's on the beach. Georgian Bay is right there. Explore the shoreline or cross to the islands. For backcountry routes, drive 15 minutes to George Lake and you're into Killarney's interior lakes. Most guests paddle every day; the water's calm in the mornings.

Hike

The Crack is the trail everyone does—steep scramble up quartzite, views of Georgian Bay at the top. It's 6km round trip; expect 3-4 hours and crowds on summer weekends. Granite Ridge is easier (2km, good for kids). Silver Peak is the full-day option (12km, quieter).

Fish

Bass, pickerel, and trout in Lamorondière Bay. Cast from the dock or take the canoe out to the drop-offs. You'll need an Ontario fishing license—buy it online before you come.

Nothing

Sit on the granite. Watch the water change color. Read the book you brought. Listen to loons at dusk. Some guests never leave the property and that's the point.

Why Georgian Bay Keeps Travelers Coming Back

People call Georgian Bay the sixth Great Lake. The turquoise water, pink granite shoreline, and 30,000 islands earned it. From Shebanoning you can paddle out and watch osprey or eagles, plan a day trip to the village for fresh whitefish, or explore the outer islands by canoe.

Frequently Asked Questions About Staying in Killarney

Where exactly is Killarney, Ontario?

The Municipality of Killarney is on the north shore of Georgian Bay, west of Sudbury. Our cabins sit south of Highway 637 along Pine Island Channel—15 minutes to the George Lake park entrance, close enough to hit the trails early but far enough that you won't hear the campground. Plug "Shebanoning Lodge" into your GPS or follow our driving guide for the most accurate route. You'll know you're close when the granite starts showing pink.

Do you offer year-round cottage rentals?

We're open from the first Saturday of June through Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. That's the best season here—warm enough to swim, cool evenings perfect for the fire pit, and the trails are dry. Winter up here gets serious; we close for the cold months. Use the request form to share your desired week, and we'll confirm which cabin or the main lodge is available for that timeframe.

What activities are available without entering the park?

Plenty. Launch kayaks and canoes from our shoreline and explore the water. Fish Lamorandière Bay for bass and pickerel. Walk our pine-framed roads at sunrise when it's dead quiet. Watch the stars—no light pollution means you'll see the Milky Way on clear nights. The main lodge has a sauna if you want to sweat after a cold swim. We also share local recommendations for art galleries, lighthouse tours, and boat cruises when you feel like leaving the property.

How do I secure the cabin I want?

Use the request form to tell us which property you want—Ginger's, Rusty's, or the Main Lodge. Include your party size and what you're planning (fishing, hiking, family gathering) so we can point you to the right fit. We'll confirm availability, send rate details, and hold your dates with a deposit. You're booking direct with the family, not through a platform, so you'll always talk to someone who knows the property.
